How long have you been working for Simplyhealth?
I've just celebrated my 1 year anniversary and it's been a really great first year. I actually won the Best Newcomer of 2015 award at our annual sales awards in February 2016.
What made you decide to join Simplyhealth?
I'd been aware of Simplyhealth for some time and knew that it had a great history of success, which was something I wanted to be a part of. I was working for another company in Andover, also in Telesales, and enjoyed the role. So when the opportunity to do the same thing for Simplyhealth came up I jumped at the chance
Tell us more about your role?
As a Telesales Advisor I spend my days contacting people over the phone to tell them about the products Simplyhealth has to offer, for example our cash plans and dental plans. We make quite a few calls in a day so we are always kept busy. Many of those we speak to are already Simplyhealth customers who may not know about our other products. Other times I speak to potential customers who may not have heard about Simplyhealth or know about our everyday healthcare plans.
What do you enjoy best about working in Telesales?
There's a lot of variety in the role, I speak to a lot of different people about different things in a single day. I never get bored and the days tend to fly by. I really enjoy working in sales and it's something I'm passionate about. And I really like selling Simplyhealth's products - many people don't know about cash plans and what great benefits they offer in order to save money on everyday healthcare bills. It's great being able to sell a product that you know can actually help someone instantly. In my last role I sold car insurance, which is a compulsory product that most people don't ever feel the value of having unless they are involved in an accident. People can really see the benefit of a cash plan or dental plan right away, though.
What is your working environment like?
I work in a great team and the atmosphere is really positive. Everyone gets along well. Even though we're all working to achieve our own targets, we all try and support one another. For example, if someone comes up with a good idea to help sell a product, they'll share it with the rest of us. Our Team Leaders are very supportive too, which is great. We also like to have fun and often play friendly games or have daily/monthly incentives where you can win prizes.
What's your work/life balance like?
I find the shift patterns in Telesales are supportive of a good work/life balance. Some weeks I'll start earlier and finish earlier (ie come in at 10 and finish at 6), but other weeks I might start later and finish later (come in at 12 and finish at 8). I'll also work a Saturday one week, but then the following weekend I'll have three days off. It gives me the chance to make great use of my time and do things a regular 9-5, Monday to Friday schedule might not allow.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I'd like to still be working at Simplyhealth. One of the great things about this company is there is lots of opportunity for progression. I hope to continue to grow and develop within Simplyhealth's sales department.
Do you have any advice for someone who might want to work in Telesales?
If you are passionate and driven to achieve goals then this is a great path to choose. And Simplyhealth is an excellent company to improve your sales career - you'll learn a lot in a short time about a number of products and the support system here will help you succeed.
