Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the Simply Health Plan and private medical insurance (PMI)?
Traditional PMI typically covers acute medical events like surgery in private hospitals but excludes routine care and pre-existing conditions*. The Simply Health Plan focuses on everyday healthcare needs, including 24/7online GP access, mental health support, and money-back towards dental, optical, and physiotherapy - helping to address some of the health issues most commonly linked to sick days.
*Specific coverage will vary depending on the provider and plan.
Can employees join if they have pre-existing conditions?
Yes. Unlike some private medical insurance, Simplyhealth offers business health benefits that cover pre-existing conditions*, focus on prevention and early treatment, whilst offering a cost-effective way to keep your workforce healthy and productive.
Please note: The Simply Dental Plan does not cover:
· Treatment for dental accidents occurring before the policy start date
· Mouth cancer already diagnosed or for which the individual is undergoing tests, either before or during the qualifying period, even if diagnosed after

Are there any excess fees or hidden costs?
No - there are no excess fees or hidden costs with our business health plans. Your monthly payment covers all services included in your chosen plan, so employees won’t face unexpected charges.
Employees on Simply Essentials or the Simply Health Plan include core services like access to 24/7 online GP appointments, mental health support, and digital muscle and joint pain assessments.
For the Simply Health Plan and Simply Dental Plan, money back towards treatments also have no excess. Employees pay for eligible treatment upfront, get a receipt, submit a claim online, and receive money back without deductions (up to their annual limits).
Everything is designed to be transparent and predictable, so employees can use their benefits confidently.
Can employees add family members to their coverage?
Yes. Employees on the Simply Health Plan or Simply Dental Plan can add their partner and/or children to their cover, where this has been agreed with the employer. Family coverage may help reduce absences caused by employees caring for family members who may be waiting for NHS appointments.
Partners and children must be on the same level of cover as the policyholder. Children must be under 24 years. Additional costs may apply.
How do employees make claims for the Simply Health Plan and Simply Dental Plan?
The process is quick and straightforward:
Attend the appointment, pay, and keep the itemised receipt
Submit their claim in minutes by uploading a photo of the itemised receipt, including all required details, via the SimplyPlan app or online account.
Most claims processed in around 1.2 days, and once approved, payments reaching employees’ bank accounts within 3 working days.
What happens if an employee leaves the company?
Coverage typically ends with their employment. If an employee leaves the company, their cover usually stops at the same time. However, employees often have the option to continue their plan independently by taking out a personal policy direct with Simplyhealth at individual rates.
Do we get reports on how the plan is being used?
Yes, you'll have access to aggregated reporting that shows usage statistics and insights. Individual employee health information remains confidential in line with data protection requirements.
Can we switch between plans or change coverage later?
Yes, you can adjust coverage annually upon renewal. This flexibility works well for growing businesses or when workforce needs change.
Can employees claim for treatments already available on the NHS?
Yes. The cash-back benefit helps employees access services like dental check-ups, eye tests, and physiotherapy more quickly and at times that suit their schedule, helping to reduce waiting times and prevent small issues from becoming serious problems.
