Commenting on the Government’s publication of the Keep Britain Working Update: A National Growth Opportunity, Paul Schreier, CEO at Simplyhealth, said:

"We welcome today's progress update from the Keep Britain Working Review and its focus on prevention, early intervention, and helping people stay healthy and productive in work. The report rightly recognises that the greatest opportunity lies in identifying challenges earlier and supporting people before they leave the labour market."

"Access to timely support is a critical part of that. Our recent research found that more than half of employees had delayed seeking medical care in the past year, while employees reported losing an average of 2.1 working days because of delays or difficulties accessing healthcare. Too often, people struggle to get help at the point they need it most, increasing the risk that health issues become more serious and harder to manage."

Paul Schreier, CEO of Simplyhealth

"We support the review’s emphasis on creating healthier and more inclusive workplaces, improving access to support, and building a stronger evidence base around what works. Enabling earlier conversations, removing barriers, and helping people access support more quickly can benefit employees, employers, and the economy alike."

"The next phase of the programme will be critical. We welcome the commitment to test ideas with employers, employees, disabled people, and regional partners, and to build practical solutions that can work for organisations of every size. Improving workforce health is a shared challenge, and progress will depend on continued collaboration across employers, government, healthcare providers, and local leaders."
