Mum returns to Simplyhealth after 22 years thanks to flexible working

Au Flexible workingI joined Simplyhealth working in Customer Services team in 1993 and left in December that year. I went on to have a career in sales at various companies and then took some time out after having my son six years ago.


I wanted to return to work but I wasn't sure if I wanted to go full time or part time and when I was looking there weren't many companies that offered flexibility. The only flexibility I needed was on a Friday because I have to collect my son from school. When I was interviewed for my role at Simplyhealth I explained the flexibility I needed and that I was happy to take half an hour for lunch instead of an hour. It was agreed I would work Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm and 9am to 2pm on Fridays with shorter lunch breaks. It very much feels like Simplyhealth accommodates its employees.


I have always been customer focused and being a customer advisor in the online claims team is right up my street. The products have changed over the years to expand into new areas so whilst the heart of cash plans hasn't changed, it's really nice to see how the company has changed and moved with the times.


The fact Simplyhealth could accommodate my needs was a massive benefit for me. Having a company that understands I'm a mother before anything else and is willing to work around you is hard to find. Simplyhealth is a company that really cares about its employees. Having this job means I can drop my son off at school, go to work, pick him up on a Friday and spend time with him knowing I have worked 35 hours and have been appreciated for it.
