That’s why Candice Brown, winner of The Great British Bake Off 2016, is here to help us rustle up a delicious and healthy meal through an online cook-a-long class.

Our ‘Star Baker’ has come up with a healthy chicken and chorizo egg fried rice recipe for you and your whole family to enjoy.

Here are the ingredients you will need to take part in the cook-a-long, which serves two people:

  • Sesame oil or olive oil
  • 60g chorizo
  • 1 red onion
  • 6 mushrooms
  • 1 red chilli or chilli paste
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 200g tenderstem broccoli
  • Half bag beansprouts
  • 1 pepper (any colour)
  • 4-6 chicken thigh fillets
  • 1 packet ready cooked wholegrain rice (or cooked rice of choice)
  • Handful of mangetout
  • Soy sauce
  • 25g salted peanuts
  • 1 egg

As a meat-free alternative, Candice has suggested replacing the chicken and chorizo with halloumi and/or vegan chicken-style pieces.

So dust off that apron, hide those takeout menus and join in with Simplyhealth and Candice to create this healthy and tasty dish!
