Coronavirus answers for our corporate clients

General

  • Is Simplyhealth offering anything extra or tailored in the way of access or support at this time?

We are in the process of developing emotional and physical resilience content which we will be sharing on our websites, via social media and via email to clients.

  • What can I do as an employer to reduce any risk to my staff?

You should follow the latest government guidance for employers which can be found here: www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-employersand-businesses-about-covid-19.

Your Policy

  • Can someone go to a private clinic for a Coronavirus test and is that covered by the cash plan?

No, the test needs to be conducted through NHS and therefore is not one you need to pay for.

  • Would any services within my corporate plan be exempt due to the coronavirus?

All elements of both our health care and dental plans are still available, however availability of appointments with healthcare professionals will be at the discretion of individual providers.

  • How is Simplyhealth handling Coronavirus related claims? What can our employees claim for and cannot claim for under the policy we have with you?

Simplyhealth health plans will cover hospital stays in line with our terms and conditions. None of our plans will cover any Coronavirus testing or diagnostics.

  • I am a corporate customer, will we still be billed even though our organisation is closed at the moment?

All corporate customers will continue to be invoiced as your employees will still have access to the benefits of their policies.

Your claims

  • How is Simplyhealth handling Coronavirus related claims? What can our employees claim for and cannot claim for under the policy we have with you?

Simplyhealth health plans will cover hospital stays in line with our terms and conditions. None of our plans will cover any Coronavirus testing or diagnostics.

  • Will you be able to fulfil my employees’ claims if your organisation is significantly struck with Coronavirus?

At Simplyhealth we take our responsibility as a resilient business seriously. For many years now we have been working behind the scenes to ensure that in the event of an incident, like the Coronavirus outbreak, we’re able to continue to deliver services to our customers. In doing so, the safety, security and wellbeing of our colleagues will always be our number one priority. Critical activities, such as paying out claims, will be continued using the wider resources of Simplyhealth, such as multi-skilled colleagues and offices in other locations, where possible.

  • Could you advise if my employees are able to claim anything back for hospital stays connected to becoming ill with the coronavirus?

The Simplyhealth hospital benefit is a single cash amount that is payable to the plan holder if they need to be admitted to hospital as a day or overnight patient. It does not cover them for treatment that was carried out, it does not matter what they were admitted to hospital for.

Simplyhealth services

  • What advice should we give our employees about visiting the dentist? Should we still be encouraging them to attend appointments and if so, is there any advice to stay safe at these appointments?

Many dental practices are now largely closed, though some offering emergency medical appointments. Please advise your employees to contact their own dental practice if they need treatment.

  • Will the Simplyhealth GP / EAP service be able to withstand an increase in demand on their phone lines?

During these uncertain times Simplyhealth is very aware of the importance of the virtual clinical services available to our customers, in particular our 24/7 GP and our EAP services.

As to be expected, these services are experiencing an increase in demand in their service and Simplyhealth is in daily contact with our providers to ensure that the service is maintained and delivered to the high clinical standard expected for our customers.

Our providers all have well established business continuity plans and we have received assurance that they have the functionality and capacity to continue to deliver these services and we will continue to receive this assurance on a daily basis.

During this extended period of uncertainty we ask for our customers understanding that some services may need to be adapted, for example face to face counselling may be delivered via video consultations.
