After years on the Board of the AA, it took time to shrug off one’s ‘Executive’ mode. That AA experience proved very relevant in my new role. It is a membership organisation, like the Simplyhealth Group. I was immediately impressed by the accountability of our Group’s non-Executive Directors. Many in other organisations would benefit from the cold shower effect of the annual appraisal we have on the Simplyhealth Group Board. Re-election also ensures accountability: has this person earned a place at the Board table?
